A Tomb with a View by Norman Robbins
directed by Rob Powell

Show dates are Sept 6, 7, 13, 14 at 7:30 p.m and Sept 8, 15 at 2:00 p.m.

About this play: A Tomb With A View is set in as sinister an old library as one is likely to come across presided over by a portrait of a grim faced, mad eyed old man. There a lawyer reads a will (involving some millions of pounds) to an equally sinister family, one member of which has werewolf tendencies, another wanders around in a toga of Julius Caesar and a third member is a gentle old lady who plants more than seeds in her flower beds. By the third act, there are more corpses than live members left in the cast and what about the sympathetic nurse and the author of romantic novels are they all, or more than, they seem to be? All is revealed as the plot twists and turns to its surprising conclusion.

Presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals.

About this play: Phil Johnson, the long term MP from a small rural riding in Ontario, now in Opposition, has suddenly died during a committee meeting. In the hopes of securing the seat for the government the Prime Minister parachutes in a high profile candidate – Violette Gascoigne. Her campaign team is lead by Graehme (‘Griff’) Griffith; a high flying, extravagant and very successful professional campaign manager. Phil’s replacement candidate is to be local business owner and council member Marvin Milton, who has been coerced into running by the fiery Rebekah Barker. Things become complicated when Griff and Rebekah begin to suspect that Violette and Marvin may be having an affair. Clashes and misunderstandings abound as the two managers try to prevent scandal from ruining their campaigns, while managing assistants of enthusiastic, but varying, competency. Who thought rural politics were boring? Did I mention Griff’s nemesis, a cat named Imhotep?
